St Bridget’s
St Bridget’s in Rustington has always been one of Leonard Cheshire’s most popular and well-led Care Homes. In 2019 it was recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted but the internal circulation spaces didn’t match the quality of the care. MacConvilles were tasked with creating the blueprint for other care homes with the interior refurbishment of St Bridget’s.
MacConvilles worked closely with LCD and an interior designer to develop their brand to make it consistent and recognizable, but still homely for residents. Stained ceiling tiles, flickering lighting, dated décor and laminate flooring as wall protection, were replaced with flush ceilings, LED lighting, stylish décor and purpose-made wall, door, and corner protection to create a warm and welcoming environment, but built to last.
The very first projects undertaken by MacConvilles for Leonard Cheshire involved improvements to bathrooms, WCs, sluice rooms and kitchens. Maintaining good hygiene standards is essential for any care home. A CQC inspection will often focus on infection control risk and mark homes down accordingly. Keeping such areas clean is only possible with easy-to-maintain finishes and good detailing between materials.
MacConvilles have specified and overseen improvements to many of LCD’s care homes throughout numerous projects. The replacement of hard to clean tiles with hygienic wall cladding, coved vinyl safety flooring, redecoration, modern fixtures and fittings, and good detailing to remove dirt traps, have turned bathrooms, kitchens, and sluice rooms into fit-for-purpose modern facilities.
