Montefiore Hospital began life in the early 19th century as Hannington’s, Brighton’s oldest and most famous department store before being converted to offices for Legal and General in the 1970’s. Spire Healthcare took ownership of the building in 2010 transforming the outdated office block into a modern private hospital.
The building was stripped back and redesigned creating diagnostic suites, operating theatres, inpatient and outpatient facilities alongside a well overdue restoration of the exterior returning it to its former glory. The Montefiore Hospital conversion obtained a ‘Best Refurbishment’ award in the Acumen Commercial Property Awards in 2012.
“The Montefiore Hospital delivers the best care available anywhere in the country, right on the doorstep of the city’s 250,000 residents. It is a tremendously exciting development that makes the city an even more desirable place to live and work. The aim was to make this a centre of excellence for private healthcare. We provide a broad range of diagnostic and treatment services including outpatient clinics, the carrying out of MRI and CT scans, and we perform a broad variety of operations.”
