Building Regulations Principal Designer / Team Lead

Biography

Louise leads MacConvilles’ Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) service, a statutory dutyholder role introduced by the Building Safety Act 2022 to strengthen accountability and improve building safety outcomes, particularly for residential and higher‑risk projects.

With an architectural background and over 20 years’ experience running her own consultancy, Louise brings deep expertise in design coordination, regulatory compliance and pre‑construction risk management. This experience closely aligns with both the intent and practical application of the current Building Safety regime.

Providing strategic oversight and technical leadership, she collaborates with clients, designers and project teams to support coordinated design development and the early identification and management of building safety risks. Her architectural expertise supports the integration of fire and structural safety requirements into the design process, helping to align regulatory duties with planning strategy and technical delivery.

Louise has a strong working knowledge of Gateway requirements and Golden Thread principles, underpinning a proportionate, well‑managed approach to compliance and information management throughout the design phase.
