While the Government has put a stop to all non-essential works, thanks to a certain global pandemic, we are now required to work slightly differently. But we are still working.
It has been a steep learning curve. We have all needed to turn our hand to tasks that are unfamiliar and out of our comfort zone. We have adapted as necessary and are keeping MacConvilles going.
The team has all settled into their new home offices – some with more envious views than others; some with multi screens and some that have furry work companions. Our remote IT systems are all up and working, with all minor teething issues now ironed out. We are all well and supporting our NHS by #StayingatHome.
Prioritising Essential Works
It is not just our environment that has changed, so has the emphasis of our work. Our clients are still the most important focus of our business, but we have been lucky enough to have new opportunities present themselves and we are still very busy behind the scenes.
Our Quantity Surveying team are busy supporting clients and contractors who have closed, or are in the process of closing, building sites, ensuring that they are safe and secure and advising our clients and contractors on their contractual position.
Other essential site work continues, but the health and safety of those on site and the community in general remains paramount. These works to health, care, infrastructure and government projects are under constant review and will only continue whilst they remain essential.
Other new exciting projects are also being discussed, so watch this space.
Laying the Foundations for Future Work
Never a team to sit and twiddle their thumbs our Building Surveyors have been busy preparing planning permissions for future schemes, completing schedules of works, specifications, planned maintenance and continuing to work on existing projects that comprise essential fire safety works within health and social care.
Whilst we cannot visit sites except for essential works, there is a lot we can all do to make us ready for life post Covid-19. With the summer building period reduced, planning ahead will be key. If you have a project in mind or essential works that need undertaking, we can help.
