It’s not everyday you get to sit up high in sunshine, surveying a historic Grade I listed building, but when you do it makes all those cold wet windy days fade away and you remember why you love surveying.
It’s a real privilege to get a glimpse of what lies behind closed doors. Examining architecture up close reveals exciting details of the past, of how buildings were used and how they have evolved to remain relevant.
Today we have been up high with the sun and the seagulls exploring hidden details, lanterns and walkways, gullies and chimney pots. We have seen the ingenuity of past repairs revealing the changing conservation narrative.
It’s days like this that drew Senior Architectural Technologist Duncan Green back to MacConvilles. Out on site with one foot in the past and one the present, the challenge of ensuring the work he specifies is fit for the future is exciting and demands an attention to detail that gives him immense pride in his work.
Welcome back Duncan!
Duncan returned to MacConvilles this summer. He previously worked for the company in 2017, only leaving to gain further experience within an Architectural Practice based in the South East. Duncan holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Architectural Technology from Southampton Solent University and is professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).
