We are delighted to report that work is  progressing well on our residential development project at Montpelier Place in central Brighton and Hove, East Sussex.

Filling the role of Principal Designer, MacConvilles Director Ben Coombs was appointed at the initial design stage.  In this specialist role Ben is working alongside the project team, to identify risk in the design and find ways to exclude or reduce it ensuring the safety of the project during the construction phase and beyond.

“Principal designers have an important role in influencing how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project. Principal designers must: plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase. This is a particularly challenging site due to the site constraints and lack of available space. Now works are on site it is being very well run by the contractor with good input from the design team to ensuring best practice is being adopted”

Ben Coombs Director of Quantity Surveying Services.

Situated in within the Montpelier and Clifton Hill Conservation Area this project has seen the demolition of a 1960’s church to be replaced with the sympathetically designed, development.  Blending with surrounding Grade II architecture we feel the scheme designed by Brighton based Crowther Associates Architects will enhance the local streetscape.
