New Residential Development in Brighton and Hove Conservation Area

Filling the role of Principal Designer, MacConvilles Director Ben Coombs was appointed at the initial design stage.  In this specialist role Ben worked alongside the project team, to identify risk in the design, find ways to exclude it and ensure the safety of the project during the construction phase and beyond.

“Principal designers have an important role in influencing how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project. Principal designers must: plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase. This was a particularly challenging site due to the site constraints and lack of available space. However the site has been very well run by the contractor and alongside great input from the design team, best practice was ensured.” Ben Coombs Director of Quantity Surveying

Situated in within the Montpelier and Clifton Hill Conservation Area this project has seen the demolition of a 1960’s church to be replaced with the sympathetically designed, development.  Blending with surrounding Grade II architecture we feel the scheme designed by Brighton based Crowther Associates Architects will enhance the local streetscape.
