Party Walls – Manor Road, Brighton

What it is

The Party Walls at 1 Manor Road, Brighton have been recorded in detail as the site, formerly a convent and nursing home of the Augustinian Sisters (built in 1906) including a small chapel, is to be redeveloped.

The works include demolition of the existing chapel, garages and extensions to Villa Maria and St Augustine’s outbuildings.  Both Villa Maria and St Augustine’s are to be refurbished to provide 16 flats.  New two and three storey buildings will also be constructed on the site to provide further flats and houses.

What we did

We acted as the Building Owner’s Party Wall Surveyor to provide advice, issued Party Wall Notices and administered Party Wall Awards under The Party Wall etc Act 1996.

Our role involved liaison with the developer, structural engineer, numerous owners and their appointed surveyors to advise on Party Wall matters and agree details to protect the historic walls around the Manor Road site.
