MacConvilles Surveying are extremely excited to announce that they have been shortlisted as finalists for the South East RICS Awards 2019 in both the commercial and community categories. Taking place on the 16th May at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, MacConvilles are hoping to impress the judges with two of their most impressive projects.
The RICS Awards focus on innovative building and construction projects that have a positive impact on the local community. They are considered to be one of the most prestigious construction awards, with the quality of entrants being exceptionally high. Just to be considered as a finalist is an honour.
MacConvilles offered two projects up for inspection. For the Community category, they partnered up with the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership Trust to create a new community kitchen that would enable the trust to teach the local residents how to cook and reduce waste. MacConvilles provided their services for free to the not-for-profit organization as a way to celebrate their 80th year in business. The result was a bright, modern space with kitchen and teaching facilities that transformed a run-down building into a cosy community hub.
The second project, entered into the Commercial category, was the introduction of a new crematorium and facilities in Wealdon. Addressing the urgent need for crematorium services in the area, MacConvilles helped to create a facility that was modern, sustainable and sensitive to the environment around it. With innovative, eco-friendly measures such as a reusable heat source from the crematorium and electric charging points for cars, this building is one that looks to the future while celebrating the past lives of loved ones.
If either entrant is successful, MacConvilles will be invited back to the grand finale at the end of the year, when one project will be named 2019 RICS Project of the Year.
